Greetings,
Due to high gasoline prices and lack of interest in the Ouray County bird count let's try a Delta County bird count instead. Delta has many great places to bird, Confluence Park, Fruitgrowers Reservoir, Sweitzer SP, Crawford SP, Grand Mesa, and Escalante SWA, just to name a few. Most birders are located nearer to Delta than Ouray. The count will be on the 6th and 7th of September, Saturday and Sunday. Join the count on either Saturday, Sunday or both days.

We will again try a team concept for those that choose. There is an attachment with all the rules if working a team is your choice of birding. If not, them download the Delta County birdlist, also attached, and use it to tick your birds. There should be some rare birds around at this time of year and I would like to know what species are found so I can compile results and post them.

Brenda and I will be on the west side of Confluence Lake at a picnic table at the following times; 8:00-9:00AM on Saturday, 12:00-1:00PM on Saturday, 6:00-7:00PM on Saturday. On Sunday we will be at the same location at the same times. With us, we will have extra team rules and checklists in case birders could not open and print the two attachments.

Part of the interest is in reporting rare birds. If a rare bird is located, report it to the reporting station at Confluence Lake during the time the station is active(see above times). Also check the station during these times to see what has been reported. We would like to collect your results by 7:00PM Sunday so we can post them 8th, Monday.
